The honest answer to the question we hear most
Ask it your tax question, your lease question, your Medicare question. Then come back, ask us the same thing, and compare. This page is about what happens after that.
Full disclosure first
WithDave runs on Claude — the same frontier AI you can already talk to for free. We didn't build a smarter engine; nobody out-builds the frontier labs from a garage. Claude is the engine. WithDave is the car built for this road. Everything below is what we build around that engine before you ever ask a question — and every claim on this page describes a mechanism we actually run, not a marketing position.
What happens after that — six things, specifically
We verify.
A general chatbot answers from memory, and memory ages. The numbers that decide your answer — tax brackets, contribution limits, Medicare premiums — reset every January, while a model's training data always runs months behind. So we keep a Facts Layer: more than 80 annually-indexed figures across 14 domains, each traced to a primary source, injected at the top of every advisor's instructions so the current number beats the remembered one.
label: “Medicare Part B standard premium”
value: “$202.90/month” · year: “2026”
neverSay: “$185.00 — that was 2025”
That last line is a landmine for the stale prior-year figure a general model is statistically likely to repeat. Every figure in the layer traces to a primary source and is re-verified on a schedule.
We source.
Answers here don't arrive as anonymous paragraphs. They name their sources — the actual authority, like an IRS revenue procedure or a CMS notice — and carry a stated confidence level. When the advisor is exercising judgment rather than citing a rule, the answer says so instead of dressing opinion up as fact.
We specialize.
One generalist model holds one conversation. WithDave is 5 advisors covering 30 topics — business and money, legal, life planning, government benefits, insurance and risk — each topic with its own hand-built instructions, its own verified figures, and its own sense of what a professional in that field would flag.

We hone in.
A professional's first instinct isn't to answer — it's to ask. Our advisors are instructed to do the same: before committing to numbers that depend on your filing status, your state, or your timeline, they ask the follow-up questions a professional would ask. A generic chat will happily give you a confident answer to an under-specified question. Ours narrows the question first.
We close the loop.
A chat answer is a dead end — you read it, you close the tab. Here the answer is the start: it becomes action items you can track, documents you can generate (167 types, from checklists to letters), morning briefings that watch the topics you care about, and a dashboard that remembers — so when the rules change in January, you find out from us, not from a penalty notice.
each step feeds the next — and the next question starts smarter
We test ourselves.
Before every milestone, model change, or prompt edit, we run an adversarial exam: 135 golden questions across 21 topic batteries, built specifically to bait the stale figures and confident half-answers general models produce — and graded through the real product path, not a lab mock. When the exam catches us, we fix the layer that failed, not just the answer.
And then the part nobody else does
We show receipts.
Every AI product tells you it's accurate. We publish the measurements instead — real runs with real numbers, preserved in version control, including the ones that caught us being wrong. Our first published error analysis starts with a failing score (9 of 24 questions grounded), shows the diagnosis measurement by measurement, and ends with the same exam at 24 of 24 — same day, same pipeline, no cherry-picking.
Where all of this stops
WithDave is education and preparation, not licensed advice — no AI should be your CPA or your attorney, including ours. The goal is different: that you walk into the professional's office as the best-prepared client they've seen all week, with the right documents, the right questions, and the current numbers.
The comparison worth running is your own.
Free is 20 messages/day — enough to test us on the question you actually have.
